Sold Paintings

My abstract work is largely intuitive although there are some exceptions where I have used photo references from my travels. My usual method is creating order from chaos.I start by splashing around colour and adding optical texture.I then look to see what the painting is saying to me.If I see something in the painting like figures, rocks or landscapes I start enhancing that by negative painting and blocking out areas.Other times I just start erasing things I don’t like with a neutral colour made from gesso and the paints I used in the background. In this case I focus on shapes. I love circles so this often comes up in my work.If I start a painting using texture to build up a surface I approach it like a design and make my composition before I add colour.I often add in elements of collage – this could be paper or other objects.
