A French Country Palette in an Abstract Painting
It all started with cleaning my brush that was loaded with black paint on the pristine white Strathmore Mixed Media paper. I love those first initial marks with all the energy in them.
Next, I needed to pick a palette. I had a bottle of yellow fluid and a tub of cobalt blue that made me think of French Country Decor.
I decided to give it a go! If you have been following me for a while you know that I am not a fan of yellow. So here goes.
I tried to retain some of the black to keep the dark value and the contrast with the yellow. I also used white and worked wet into wet to create some neutral areas.
Next came some drips using the refillable Montana marker to add some dimension and break up the diagonal line I had created. I also added in some marks with a white woody stabilo and a yellow gelato.
Almost there! Just needs something to finish it off. Something different! I added three squares in the bottom right. Then I found these rub off alphabets in a drawer and added some letters.
Maybe just a couple more things! A red dot to add a bit more interest to the focal point and a calligraphic line made with a Uni Posca marker for added depth and interest.
Well I think that is all I am going to do on this one. For now anyway! Untitled so far. Suggestions or comments always welcome.
